The Panorama Music Festival Experience

July 30, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Okay, so the title is a bit misleading. I only experienced Day one of the festival, not the entire weekend but what an experience it was. I refer to Summer 2017 as the "Summer Of Music" or more so the time frame that I am reaccepting my passion for a music-driven career... I looked at my work schedule last week and noticed I had the day off and decided to treat myself. I called my friend who was already going and said, "Let's do this!" The rest of the story was history.

I woke up super excited and thanked God the weather was not the thunderstorm the forecast predicted earlier that week. Friday, July 28, worked out because it happened to be the day of the festival of artists I truly wanted to see: Solange, MGMT, Frank Ocean, Tyler, The Creator and Girl Talk amongst many more. The thing is I only ended up seeing the first three acts I listed. This is my second music festival experience, after Afropunk in 2015...

Lowdown Hudson Music Fest 2017: OK Go

July 19, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

ast night we caught Common at the ‘2017 Lowdown Hudson Music Festival’ at Brookfield Place. Tonight was night two of two of the festival with opening act Flint Eastwood and OK Go. Once again I missed the opening act; I was in need of a food replenishment and that “popular” NYC burger spot took longer than I participated.

So back to the story, although I missed the opening act, this time I caught the main act in full. Rockers, OK Go, entertained the Brookfield crowd for 90 minutes. The crowd was much smaller tonight which was a plus for a lot of the festival goers as we were pushed to the front section right in front of the stage. The group hit the stage at 8 p.m.

Lowdown Hudson Music Fest 2017: Common

July 18, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Disclaimer: Excuse the lack of footage as I was trying to enjoy the little that I was able to see.

What is a summer season in New York City without free music festivals? So of course there are tons of free music events going on within the five boroughs. One of the many happen to be the 2017 ‘Lowdown Hudson Music Fest’ taking place on the grounds of Brookfield Place. Brookfield Place is an upscale office complex that offers a shopping mall experience downtown, in the FiDi (the Financial District). This year’s festival is two nights of music fun with Common, Lion Babe, OK Go and Flint Eastwood.

JAY-Z's '4:44' Album Listening Party

June 30, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Last night I socialized with the Hip-Hop crowd for one of many album listening parties for JAY-Z’s thirteenth studio album, ‘4:44.’

Yesterday was a long day, I am on summer break from school so that means 40 plus hour work weeks. I was looking forward to the many Tidal x Sprint album listening parties hosted at various Sprint stores for almost a week but I was so tired. I almost did not make it but I always tell myself, “Chet, you never know who you might meet or what will happen to you.” Well, I am glad I listened to myself.

Is Kendrick Lamar Taking A Page Out Of Beyonce's Book?

April 01, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

This past Thursday, March 30, saw Kendrick Lamar release the audio and visual for "HUMBLE." The song is lifted from his upcoming project to be released on April 07, 2017. As I was exiting the subway I saw an alert on my phone asking me if I saw the new K-Dot. In an unusual manner, I quickly searched because such a question from this particular friend must mean that it was something big. What I searched and opened turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Just before I had The Weeknd’s “I Feel It Coming” featuring Daft Punk on repeat I was listening to another song on constant playback. This song was “Game” by Mating Ritual.

Loop Love: The Weeknd "I Feel It Coming" Feat. Daft Punk

November 20, 2016 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Music is my first love, it was the basis of my first blog, The C.S. Perspective. I always like to share what I'm listening to.

Have you ever added an album or just stumble upon a single and it is literally the only thing you play? I mean keeping this one song on repeat for hours on day until you become sick of it. Well I call this "loop love."
