Lowdown Hudson Music Fest 2017: Common

July 18, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Disclaimer: Excuse the lack of footage as I was trying to enjoy the little that I was able to see.

What is a summer season in New York City without free music festivals? So of course there are tons of free music events going on within the five boroughs. One of the many happen to be the 2017 ‘Lowdown Hudson Music Fest’ taking place on the grounds of Brookfield Place. Brookfield Place is an upscale office complex that offers a shopping mall experience downtown, in the FiDi (the Financial District). This year’s festival is two nights of music fun with Common, Lion Babe, OK Go and Flint Eastwood.

JAY-Z's '4:44' Album Listening Party

June 30, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Last night I socialized with the Hip-Hop crowd for one of many album listening parties for JAY-Z’s thirteenth studio album, ‘4:44.’

Yesterday was a long day, I am on summer break from school so that means 40 plus hour work weeks. I was looking forward to the many Tidal x Sprint album listening parties hosted at various Sprint stores for almost a week but I was so tired. I almost did not make it but I always tell myself, “Chet, you never know who you might meet or what will happen to you.” Well, I am glad I listened to myself.

Is Kendrick Lamar Taking A Page Out Of Beyonce's Book?

April 01, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

This past Thursday, March 30, saw Kendrick Lamar release the audio and visual for "HUMBLE." The song is lifted from his upcoming project to be released on April 07, 2017. As I was exiting the subway I saw an alert on my phone asking me if I saw the new K-Dot. In an unusual manner, I quickly searched because such a question from this particular friend must mean that it was something big. What I searched and opened turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Not Just Because It Is A New Year...

January 01, 2017 by Chet Kincaid

Happy New Year to you! Here we are at the start of a new calendar year, once again. For many of us, 2017’s personal goals are set in stone and ready to be accomplished and for many of us it is just another year. New Year’s resolutions are meant to self-motivate a person to carry out the calendar year in a certain way but my perspective is why must our accomplishments be measured by time.

Tom Ford's 'Nocturnal Animals' Masks Value With Revenge (Spoilers)

November 24, 2016 by Chet Kincaid in Movies

Just the other week I saw the trailer for Tom Ford’s second foray filmmaking: ‘Nocturnal Animals.’. Without a doubt I knew I was going to see the movie; ‘A Single Man’(2009) was spectacular to me. So I went to the Angelika Film Center to catch a showing last night. So how did Ford fair for his second go as a writer, producer and director?

In a nutshell, ‘Nocturnal Animals’ is a beautiful tale of revenge but has a deeper message.

What is Dark Skin? Depends On Which Race You Ask. (NSFW)

November 20, 2016 by Chet Kincaid in Social

Hello readers, let us talk race, once again.

"Tall, Dark and Handsome" is a phrase used to describe a very attractive guy. Whenever I usually heard the phrase it was from a white person but when I saw the guy that was referred to as "dark" it was an olive skin tone person. An example of this is actor Antonio Banderas. Now, if you ask me Banderas is far from dark but I must now realize the definition varies from race to race.

Loop Love: The Weeknd "I Feel It Coming" Feat. Daft Punk

November 20, 2016 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Music is my first love, it was the basis of my first blog, The C.S. Perspective. I always like to share what I'm listening to.

Have you ever added an album or just stumble upon a single and it is literally the only thing you play? I mean keeping this one song on repeat for hours on day until you become sick of it. Well I call this "loop love."

The Final Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting

November 20, 2016 by Chet Kincaid

Over the past few months I have been keeping pretty productive. This past September I had the opportunity to be selected as a volunteer for the final Annual Meeting of The Clinton Global Initiative along with other individuals from all over the world. Mind you, the process just to apply to be a volunteer was a lengthy one but what do you expect when dealing with such a big organization. As it has been a few moments since the actual event I will briefly recollect memories to share with you.
