Lil Kim in the "Get Naked" Video...

December 07, 2017 by Chet Kincaid

Before I begin, I will just like to say that I do not miss the 90's as far as image searching. It took me forever to find this image of Lil Kim on the set of the "Get Naked" video.

Okay, so "Get Naked" was released on the eve of the new millennium, in December of 1999. The song was released by Tommy Lee's group, Methods of Mayhem. This was one of those videos that had a huge impact on my childhood. I was only ten years old at the time but I remember staying up past 11 o'clock, watching MTV, just to watch this raunchy video. I mean, for the time, it was softcore porn.

Miguel and 'War & Leisure'

December 02, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Oooo I have time, three posts in two days.

Miguel just released his fourth album, 'War & Leisure.' This is just a quick post but I have to give Miguel his due while he is in his prime. While the Prince-inspired artist has yet to reignite his mainstream adoration in the same way since the release of "Adorn," this guy keeps me interested from album-to-album.

Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé Make The "Perfect Duet"

December 02, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

I was on the phone on a work call when the discussion lead to Beyoncé and her marketing team making all of these calculated moves to keep her name out there while making it seem like she is not even trying. So soon I forgot how the topic came up and completely missed the part of the conversation that Ed Sheeran had just announced the single release of "Perfect," lifted from his '÷' album. The single release was a remix and would feature Beyoncé.

Dear Women, You Are Powerful

December 02, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Social

Hello Readers,

It has been a moment since we last connected. Nearing the end of my current semester, I was going to post a new blog later on this month but something this past week truly shook me. Although I have been in my own bubble for the past few months I still keep abreast of everything that is going on. The waterfall of men that are being accused of sexual harassment has been eye opening, to say the least.

Dear Summer 2017

September 05, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Personal

Dear Summer 2017,

I said farewell to you yesterday, on Labor Day. You were kind, mean and then you were kind again.

I must say, these past three months made for an interesting New York City summer. Without giving away too much, I finally took the step to go to therapy. It was something I wanted to do for a long time...

Victor Taiwò's "Curse" Is The Song That Heals

August 22, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Oh what a Summer it has been. So far, I have had experiences that broke and solidified my personal relationships. There was someone who I thought was giving me what I wanted but turned out to have little-to-nothing to offer my betterment as a human being. Then there was someone who I thought gave me nothing I cared for and turned out to give me everything I needed.

The Panorama Music Festival Experience

July 30, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

Okay, so the title is a bit misleading. I only experienced Day one of the festival, not the entire weekend but what an experience it was. I refer to Summer 2017 as the "Summer Of Music" or more so the time frame that I am reaccepting my passion for a music-driven career... I looked at my work schedule last week and noticed I had the day off and decided to treat myself. I called my friend who was already going and said, "Let's do this!" The rest of the story was history.

I woke up super excited and thanked God the weather was not the thunderstorm the forecast predicted earlier that week. Friday, July 28, worked out because it happened to be the day of the festival of artists I truly wanted to see: Solange, MGMT, Frank Ocean, Tyler, The Creator and Girl Talk amongst many more. The thing is I only ended up seeing the first three acts I listed. This is my second music festival experience, after Afropunk in 2015...

Lowdown Hudson Music Fest 2017: OK Go

July 19, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

ast night we caught Common at the ‘2017 Lowdown Hudson Music Festival’ at Brookfield Place. Tonight was night two of two of the festival with opening act Flint Eastwood and OK Go. Once again I missed the opening act; I was in need of a food replenishment and that “popular” NYC burger spot took longer than I participated.

So back to the story, although I missed the opening act, this time I caught the main act in full. Rockers, OK Go, entertained the Brookfield crowd for 90 minutes. The crowd was much smaller tonight which was a plus for a lot of the festival goers as we were pushed to the front section right in front of the stage. The group hit the stage at 8 p.m.
