Miguel Rocks NYC With the "War & Leisure" Tour

March 30, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

This is exactly what Miguel did one week ago at the Manhattan stop of his 'War & Leisure' Tour.

Okay, so let's rewind, back to the beginning. It was Miguel's "Girl with the Tattoo Enter-Lewd," off of his 2010 debut album, 'All I Want Is You' that brought me in as a fan. Then of course his missile to mainstream success would be the release of "Adorn" and who could stop singing that song? I remained a strong supporter throughout his 'Wildheart' era. At this point I was living in New York City and wanted to see him live but missed the opportunity. However, life moves on and he delivered his next era, which brings us to now.

Justine Skye Returns to NYC for the "ULTRAVIOLET" Tour

March 27, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

This past Saturday, at SOB's, the Purple Unicorn returned home for the New York City stop of her "ULTRAVIOLET" tour. It was Justine Skye's fourth stop on her tour, in support of her debut album of the same name.

In our FM² post, I named Skye as one of the new age female megastars. So to begin, I always noticed Skye and that was mainly because one of my of closest friends has been a diehard Justine supporter since the Tumblr days. For me, it was not until I heard "I'm Yours" featuring Vic Mensa that I really started to pay close attention to her. Then "Jezebel" followed, followed by "Back For More, featuring Jeremih, and it was at that point that I became apart of the Unicorn Nation.

Soca Always In Season...

March 05, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

So February came and went and so did Carnival, in Trinidad. No, I did not have the luxury to attend but around that time of year the genre of Soca music is hot and heavy; DJ Private Ryan and his amazing mixes are basically a tradition. For me, that tradition lasts through out the year because there is a never a bad time to listen to the melody and rhythm of these island songs.

Take a look and listen below to the Soca songs that had me movin' for the past two months.

Young Hov & The Letter B, That's Just How I Like Them

March 02, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

This upcoming April 4 makes ten years since music's premiere couple made their love partnership a legal union. With all the rumors swirling of another joint tour between Jay-Z and Beyoncé it took me back to one of my favorite songs from the pair. Also, I would definitely see them again for a joint outing because the "On The Run" tour was pure entertainment.

BØRNS Does Not Want U Back

February 18, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

So there are those songs that you dislike but because of constant radio play you grow to love them. Then there are those songs that are timeless and from the very first moment you listen it's as if it is a song you have listened to and loved for years. A perfect example of this is The xx "Angels"; I swore this song was already established as a classic the first time I heard it. "I Don't Want U Back" is also one of those songs for me.

Sabrina Claudio Amazes With "Wanna Know"

February 14, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

So while all the lovebirds are out enjoying Valentine's Day I am here enjoying some self company.

I have also been using this time to catch up on The Friend Zone podcast. In one of the episodes Fran revealed that she was listening to Sabrina Claudio's latest release. I never heard of Claudio so I decided to check her out. So I skimmed through the album and...

FM²: Have We Already Witnessed The Last Female Music Megastar?

January 28, 2018 by Chet Kincaid in Music

A Female Music Megastar is defined as an entertainer who has become a household name. In most cases, her persona is recognized before her music is, by the casual music listener. The women associated with this title will be referred to as FM²'s.

As the 2018 Grammy awards just finished airing, it was another year showcasing some of the talent, some of the female talent. So the other week I was speaking with a friend and the conversation led to the music industry. I asked, "Do you think there will be another Beyoncé or Rihanna?" He replied, "No..." Your first question must be, "Why just Rihanna or Beyoncé?" The reasons these two ladies immediately popped up in my mind are, they managed to maintain a level of relevance, frequent visibility and global recognition for the past 13-15 years as solo artists.

Top Streams of 2017, According To Spotify

December 27, 2017 by Chet Kincaid in Music

It is about to be 2018 but before I hop into this upcoming bountiful year, Spotify has helped with collecting the artists and songs that I kept on repeat throughout 2017. According to 2017wrapped.com, I listened to 42,225 minutes of music. That is 703.75 hours, or 29.3 days of non-stop listening. So basically, that's a February, on a leap year, worth of music listening. Music is a stimulant for me.
